2020-06-25 StaffPad uses handwriting recognition technology to identify what you write with the pen, even making some alterations to improve lay-out when it converts it in to the score. If the programme is incapable of recognising the symbol you write, it will leave it in its original form for you to come back and correct, rather than automatically editing it and changing its meaning. Palm rejection is built into all the devices that support StaffPad, so feel free to rest your palm naturally on the screen as you’re writing StaffPad automatically formats notation for standard drum kit, if the Drum Kit instrument is selected. Simply write the notation as regular notes, and StaffPad will convert it to the appropriate notehead as needed upon exiting the bar. It plays back correctly, of course, and also exports as a General MIDI drum track for easier conversion to DAWs.
